Expanding and Building on My Career at Duke University
As an IT Analyst at Duke University, with experience in delivering comprehensive technical support and user-focused technology solutions, my career has been dedicated to translating complex systems into accessible, practical tools for users across all levels of technical proficiency. At Duke University, I provide Tier 1–3 support for over 200 faculty, staff, and graduate students across Windows, macOS, Linux, and iOS platforms. My responsibilities include managing Windows Server environments, Active Directory, and Alma Linux servers hosting departmental tools and web services. I also develop internal tools using PHP, Python, MySQL, and JavaScript to enhance operational efficiency. Beyond IT support, I’m passionate about building digital tools that improve efficiency and solve real-world challenges. I take pride in developing scalable, intuitive, and user-centric solutions that make technology more accessible and meaningful.
Starting Early in My Career: Building a Foundation in Innovation at Orange County Public Schools
Earlier in my career, I had the opportunity to build the first IT infrastructure for a public school campus while working at Orange County Public Schools. I designed and deployed the school’s network across all classrooms, set up the Windows file server, and managed the Active Directory Organizational Units (OUs) for faculty and staff. These foundational systems enabled secure access and efficient collaboration throughout the campus. I also constructed two computer labs—one I budgeted, planned, and ordered the stations for, and the other with equipment donated by Walt Disney World—expanding access to digital learning tools across the district. My software development work included a custom .NET application for student tracking hosted on the school’s local intranet, and a PHP-based library search tool that integrated with the Accelerated Reader database—eventually adopted by multiple schools. These early projects helped shape my commitment to practical innovation and community-focused solutions.
A Focus on AI and the Future in IT Support and Application Development
Currently, I’m expanding my skill set in generative AI, AI Agents, and machine learning. I’ve completed the Prompt Engineering for ChatGPT specialization through Coursera, where I deepened my understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and large language models. I’m currently pursuing the IBM AI Engineering Professional Certificate, with an expected completion date of September 2025. My focus is on integrating AI into IT support and application development to streamline operations and improve user experiences.
Beyond Work
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two sons, and I moonlight as a DJ at school events, parties, and weddings or volunteer for serveral and team for church parking team. Whether solving complex tech issues or mixing music for a crowd, I’m driven by curiosity, creativity, and a deep desire to help others succeed.
